
Jonathan Passmore is a Chartered Psychologist, accredited coach, and supervisor with a strong academic foundation. He holds five degrees, including an MBA and a doctorate in Occupational Psychology. He is Professor at Henley Business School (University of Reading) and at University of Évora. His doctoral work on coaching relationships and coach behaviours led to the development of the Integrated Coaching Model (2007), while his current research explores AI and coaching, digital coaching, coachbots, ethics, diversity, and coaching impact.
He has held executive and non-executive board roles and has worked with global consulting firms including PwC, IBM(Business Consulting), and CoachHub. He served as Managing Director of Embrion, advising major clients such as Technip and HSBC, and has contributed to policy and practice through advisory roles with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, the International Coaching Federation, and the Institute of Leadership and Management. Within the British Psychological Society, he played a key role in establishing the Division of Coaching Psychology, serving as its inaugural Chair (2021–2022), and has also chaired the European University Coaching Network.
He is a prolific author and editor, with over 100 scientific papers and book chapters and more than 40 published books. His work includes titles such as Becoming a Coach, The Coaches Handbook, Excellence in Coaching, Appreciative Inquiry for Change Management, Mindfulness at Work, and Top Business Psychology Models. He has also served as Series Editor for major publishing houses including Kogan Page, Wiley-Blackwell, and Routledge, and as Editor-in-Chief of the International Coaching Psychology Review, contributing significantly to the academic and professional infrastructure of the field.
His contribution has been recognised internationally through multiple awards, including the Association for Coaching Global Award (2010), the British Psychological Society Coaching Research Award (2012), and the Association for Business Psychology Chairman’s Award for Excellence (2015), as well as Best Article (2019) by Coaching at Work. He has been listed among the Thinkers50 Marshall Goldsmith Top 8 Global Coaches and the Global Gurus Top 30 Thought Leaders, reflecting sustained influence across both academic and executive coaching domains.
